Prof. Avner Rothschild

Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Deputy of the Senior Vice President for Sustainability at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Laureate of the Prime Minister's Prize for Global Innovation in Alternative Fuels (2020), the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Horizon Prize (2022), the Climate Solutions Prize for Israel Breakthrough Research (2022), and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (since 2021).

Prof. Rothschild is known for his transformative research on electrochemical materials and processes for energy conversion and storage, especially in the field of water electrolysis and photoelectrolysis. He pioneered the field of decoupled water electrolysis (DWE) without membranes and invented the processes that H2Pro develop into groundbreaking technology for green hydrogen production. He is co-founder and scientific advisor of H2Pro, and he was one of the founding directors until 2022.
